How to get the most out of Accor Plus membership

Accor Plus is a paid annual membership providing access to exclusive benefits across “20 countries, 1,000 hotels and 1,400 restaurants” across Asia Pacific, along with other handy perks including a turbocharge to Silver status in the Accor ALL rewards scheme.

Unlike ALL, which is free to join and sees members progress up the tiers through repeat stays, Accor Plus instead has an annual fee, starting from $249 and rising up to $448.

Don’t let the cost put you off though, as savings from discounts on hotel rates and restaurant dining can significantly exceed the cost of membership, making it a worthwhile investment.

Accor Plus membership: benefits

The Accor Plus program has two standard membership levels: Traveller and Explorer. These are priced at AUD$249 and $399, respectively.

In addition, Australians have access to two further tiers: Business Explorer, which comes with a Qantas tie-in and is available for $399 annually, and Discovery for $448.

To join, simply visit accorplus.com and select ‘Join’ in the top right hand corner. The process is rather self-explanatory from there.

Members of all tiers receive a standard array of benefits, such as:

  • 10% off public room rate
  • Early access to Accor hotel promotions
  • Member exclusive More Escapes packages
  • Access to Red Hot Room to get up to 50% off
  • Up to 50% off your meal bill
  • 15% off your drinks bill in Asia
  • Enjoy exclusive access to member only events
  • Automatically qualify for Silver status (more on this below)
Accor Plus is valid at 1000 properties across Asia Pacific.

On top of the above, members of Explorer and Discovery also receive:

  • 1 Stay Plus complimentary night (Explorer and Discovery)
  • Cruise, tour and wine offers worldwide (Discovery only)

Business Explorer membership is open to those with an active ABN and includes all of the above, plus:

  • Bonus Qantas Points for new members
  • Free Qantas Business Rewards membership

Accor Plus membership: ALL status benefit

Enrolling in Accor Plus delivers a handy boost to your ALL status. However, the way this works has recently changed. Prior to August 2023, members were provided Silver status in the program. Now, they receive a bonus of 20 Status Nights every year.

Status Nights are required to jump up the tiers of the program – Classic to Silver requires 10 Status Nights (or 2,000 Status Points), while Silver to Gold needs 30.

Thanks to the Accor Plus bonus, members automatically hit Silver and are already over half way to achieving Gold or, if you’re already Gold or above, retaining your current status for longer.

Stay Plus: one complimentary night

For many, the jewel of the Accor Plus crown is the ‘Stay Plus’ complimentary night every year, which is provided as a benefit to Explorer and Discovery members.

Stay Plus covers you for an overnight stay at some of Accor’s best properties in Asia-Pacific, including brands such as Pullman, Sofitel and the boutique MGallery by Sofitel.

With these brands in mind, a stay can easily outweigh the initial cost of the Accor Plus Explorer membership, so try to use it at hotels where the per-night price for base rooms exceeds A$399.

Stay Plus is available at Sofitel, Art Series, MGallery and more.

This complimentary stay is provided in an entry-level room, but rooms and suites in higher categories are also available for a reasonably small fee – in other words, trading in your ‘free night’ in a basic room to a heavily discounted overnight stay in something even nicer.

There are no specific blackout dates or restrictions in place, but naturally, availability will be limited during peak travel periods, including long weekends and during school holidays.

Every year that your Accor Plus membership is renewed, you’ll get an additional complimentary night – but, these don’t carry over from one membership year to the next, so use it or you’ll lose it.

Rather than being tied to calendar years, Accor Plus membership years are linked to the date you joined the program. For instance, joining in October 2023 will see your ‘membership year’ carry through to October 2024.

Accor Red Hot Rooms: up to 50% off room rates

Every Friday, Accor Plus releases a selection of ‘Red Hot Rooms’ which are discounted up to 50%, usually for last-minute stays. You might occasionally find a gem which lines up with a trip you’ll be taking in the next few weeks.

You’ll also get 10% off best available public rates (including restricted rates) across the board on any room type across participating properties throughout Asia-Pacific.

Red Hot Rooms provide discounts up to 40% off luxury and 50% off economy and midscale.

All things considered, the discounted room rate benefits aren’t to be sneezed at as you’ll always have access to them throughout your membership.

To ensure you’re always getting the best rate, you’ll need to book these stays directly through the Accor website or mobile app – and, these discounted rates will only appear when logged into your Accor Plus membership account, so do that first.

Accor Plus membership: dining benefits

With your membership comes up to 50% off dining at more than 1,400 Accor hotel restaurants across 20 countries, plus 15% off drinks in Asia.

Even if you’re not staying at the hotel in which you dine, you can still take advantage of these discounts: perfect for a quick working lunch when passing through a city, or even in your home town.

You can find a map of participating restaurants and bars here.

When dining alone, you’ll get 25% off the food bill, and when dining with one other person, that’s boosted to 50%. Three people dining together receive a discount of 33%, and four dining together receive 25%.

In other words, when dining with at least one other person, the dining discounts offered to an Accor Plus member effectively make the member's meal a freebie.

At some restaurants and bars, multiple membership cards can be presented to maximise savings: such as presenting two Accor Plus membership cards when four people are dining, to receive 50% off the total bill – the same as would have been available if those two pairs dined separately.

The dining benefits are valid for breakfasts (excluding resort hotels in Australia), lunches and dinners at participating restaurants, although generally exclude things like room service and minibar purchases. There are a few exceptions where benefits don’t apply – see the list here.

The "see the list here" link at the end of the article no longer works.

Thanks. That’s fixed now.

Interesting article, would be interested to hear any reader's experience with this program? Are there any negatives?

I've been a member for 25+ years.  It is particularly good if you live in a city where there are a few Accor properties so the dining benefit can be used regularly.

Only good for hotels in Asia. If using Accor hotels in Europe or North America it's useless.

Absolutely right!

As a platinum member there is virtually no benefit!

However, Asia Pacific it is excellent!

Just about worth the fee- but come free with Amex Plat..

Of Note: many places don't recognise the dining benefit for example nearly all city restaurants across multiple Accor brands in Auckland black out all dining benefit.. So don't expect it everywhere...

Where they do accept it's definitely worth it. in NZ you'll be at airport hotels at best.. Fiji was also reduced to a blanket 25% for the table - no matter how many.

Free Nights also not at all premises

Its sold with these as core blanket benefits.. so worth checking first where you might think of using.. As they say its all in the T&C's in Font 4

Nearly a decade ago, after I stayed at an Accor Hotel, I was cold-called about this programme. I joined and then, on my next trip, used the Stay Plus. After checking in early, I arrived back late and collected the key and overnight bag. After sleeping and a shower the following morning, I checked out early. I barely recall the layout of the room. Later that day, I was called and accused of emptying the mini bar. After explaining my stay, they apologised. I vowed never to stay at another Accor Hotel and also proceeded to request cancellation of Accor Plus. It took months, and in the interim, the original cold caller continued to call me about buying programme upgrades. I prefer the more discrete hotel programmes.

I don’t see the value. I believe that as a Silver, I already receive 10% off the normal rate and 50% off my dining (food only) bill (when there’s two of us)

I've been paying for Accor Advantage Plus for probably 20 years but I declined to renew this year. I've found it too hard to redeem the free night where and when I want to (ended up using it for a $179 room) and there is lack of places that I would like to dine in the two locations that I live (Gold Coast in Winter and Devonport in summer).

I have been a member for about 10 years and platinum for the last 7-8

I also have an American Express Platinum (AUD $1300) card, so the Accor Plus is included.

I do get great value from the card, especially the free breakfasts in Asia Pacific

My biggest complaint is their website and the inaccurate APP prices! I reported this problem over a week ago and there has been lots of complaints on the Facebook page.

When you search for a hotel in a city a list of the lowest prices is displayed, when you clink on the hotel, and then the room, the price is higher than originally price displayed!

Accor should, by ACCC requirements charge the lowest price!

Apart from being extremely frustrating, it is impossible to find the hotel with the lowest room rate, because the prices are all wrong :(

Anyway, the program is good, the response to fixing incorrect prices is NOT good

Accor Plus should start offering lifetime status for long term members who have 10+ consecutive years status, or accumulate their status points to achieve these milestones. Its painful seeing your status points deleted every year with no use after that! Airlines (including our friends at Qantas) and other Hotel chains offer this.

Surely you want to reward long term members over their lifetime, additionally it gives them an incentive and goal to stay and use the program. If not, one day I will just squander all my points and jump ship from this program. Its not all rainbows and free breakfasts....
