Yeah, maybe that’s right @Redwood, but if I cared about opinions like this (or some of those above that miss the point of the grievance) I’d probably be sitting at the back rather than in 1A, contributing more in revenue to Qantas’ bottom line than the rest of this thread combined.
The fact is that the bag is small and doesn’t affect other customers’ overhead space. It just over the 10kg limit because I’m not carrying a change of clothes for a weekend at the Gold Coast - I’m carry board papers and slide decks.
Seems like an odd move to introduce further pain points into business class travel in order to appease the low revenue pax in 30 bravo who are fighting for overhead bins.
I’m a P1 who has flown QF 750 times so it’s you who is part of the mass of this thread as I’ve contributed more than you combined
I’d done 750 sectors on Qantas metal by my early 20s. It’s cute you think that’s a lot of flying.
This thread is a great reminder of why I now stick to AFF to contribute to the forums and discussion. Such an ick inducing amount of humble bragging and arrogance from the usual ET crowd.
Although i agree with most of the comments about selfish people with too many bags, big bags, and arrogantly dumping them in the first spot they see as they waltz down the aisle (nowhere near their seat), I also agree with the original post's main point - they're stupidly stopping people at security to check the weight of OBVIOUSLY not overweight bags... I usually travel only with a very small laptop bag that weighs about 2-3kg. And often get stopped to check it's weight lol ... Just a look at it would tell you it's not over any limit. Sydney is the worst for this. Also, they've completely shot themselves in the foot - if they had a decent checked in bag operation that was fast and efficient, then more people would check in...

If every P1 / P / J Class passenger took a few kilos more - we will have real issues. May be start with being considerate to other passengers rather than critique the airline? Also high revenue does not allow a person to be arrogant ..you already get access to a better lounge etc. :-)
IMHO this is really a question of fairness/equity. If the OP arrived at the gate as general boarding was happening and bags were not being weighed in the red queue, but the OP in the black queue was singled out, then I fully concur with the OP's position. If OP was first to board and in fact, the ground staff checked all passengers bags in both boarding queues, then perhaps I lean to some of the other views: P, P1 etc still need to abide by the rules. There isn't an additional allowance for carry on weight for Premium FFs.

@greg959 ah I see. Then I look forward to acquiring massive levels of arrogance and entitlement once I reach that lofty pedestal

Greg must be an early 2000’s time traveler with printed slide decks and board papers.
