Just have a check one year ahead flights to LAX from MEL, SYD and BNE. No classic reward at all including cattle class even singe seat, only "Classic Plus" that deserve better name "Classic Scam". Exactly what I told in other thread - it is not to release more seats, it is for getting more points from QFF members and still claim that "we make available 3 million classic seats for all destinations"! SYD-LHR the same - "true" classic only available on non-QF flights. Therefore other carriers catering better for QFF members than QF itself! Truly disgusting!
Qantas quite literally repackaged Points + Pay, increased point costs and marketed as a polished turd that'll "revolutionise the way we book points flights"
To be fair (and this is a rare occurrence) you can find sale fares that end up costing less then a classic reward flight. So while it basically is the same as points + pay, there is that little positive nugget.
So if we all want to punish Qantas for this cynical attempt to get us to burn our impossible to use points, we need to only book non QF metal with FF points. That is a revenue loss for QF compared to carrying that passenger as they have to pay away to the other provider. Have just booked Sri Lankan SYD to LHR in April in J. 26 hours on the way there and a stopover in CMB on the way back. Enough smart people forcing Qantas to pay away to their OneWorld partners might help them have a rethink.

I am curious to see them by my own eyes. And I bet it would be some early morning flight MEL-SYD on Sunday that no-one like to fly. It is kinda as selling those empty seats immediately before take off and market them as "double seats for more privacy"

You are doing this, I am doing this and many more smart travelers doing this. But it will not change anything on global scale because of supply/demand or market forces or how I call it law of herd. It is the same as say lets stop buying sardine class and it force them to reduce it in favor of PE/J that lower prices on PE/J. I never fly in cattle class on intercontinental routes, but I fail to see that that cattle class is empty.

Not surprised. Qantas seems to have terrible marketing/data analysts that continually create programs that push loyal customers away and send them to their competitors. Another example is their Lifetime Platinum threshold that is enough to send any rational loyal customers to another FF program.

They lock many customers like myself via QFF - it is BY FAR easiest way to collect points in Australia via Credit Cards. Would be great if they not just match status, but also transfer points to Star Alliance

Qantas belongs in the bin along with their board.
Yes, but the added enhancement of ZERO QFF points and status credits!! Great work!

Checked few other destinations. All the same - for MEL-NRT "Classic Scam" rate for economy on QF metal is dearer than J on JAL!

Agreed. Total disgrace.
I no longer care for qf points. I just choose the cheapest flight available for a reasonable airline/schedule.
