Flew Business on one of VA’s refurbed 737-800s today. (I’m fortunate that I have flown D with them for more than a decade.) Interesting to note the divider between D and Y had gone, along with the ‘snake’. Needless to say it resulted in a stream of Y pax queuing (QF-style) through the Business cabin for the forward lave. One of the crew told me dividers are coming (apparently same as QF have - not sure if that’s a good thing, but not yet approved). Also, the bathroom on the aircraft I flew was vintage Everett installation; and looking its age. Strange too that they replaced seats, carpet, etc. but kept the tattered old literature pouches at the bulkheads… seems somewhat cheap. Also worth noting was no inflight internet on the refurbished 737. Has anyone else flown on these refurbed birds and can report on their experience?
A few months ago I did a flight on one of them from Brisbane to Perth.
I did not think the new seat was not any better than the old one and found the tray table was very close to my body. Overall I think the new seats are not a big enough improvement overall to warrant the cost. The problem with the cabin divider is quite an issue, as "vbarberini" has said , and until VA install something along with the " snake " then we will continue to have to queue up for the J Class toilet. Surely it can't take VA almost a year to design one and get it approved.
